About
November 27, 2007 – September 10, 2026
This website is here to honor Doctor Thomas Edison's life and contributions to this world.
Edison was our cherished pet for almost 19 years. He was loyal to his family. Fearless to his enemies. Generous to strangers. He was the smartest cat in the region. And the greatest companion a family could ask for.
Everything on this site is archived from his life and preserved on the internet for all of time.
Here he will be remembered.
Who was Doctor Thomas Edison?
A cat. He was born on November 27, 2007 and lived with his family in Colorado for almost nineteen years. He was loyal, kind, loving, and the bestest friend ever.
How did Edison die?
Edison caught an ear infection one day. It was treated with steroid antibiotics. Immediately after, he was diagnosed with diabetes. The diabetes was difficult to manage and hospitalized him for 4 days. After the hospitalization he was stable for a few months before his diabetes got bad again. He got diabetic ketoacidosis (DKA) and we were unable to save him.
How did Doctor Thomas Edison get his name?
Kids helped name him. Edison because he's smart, Thomas because he's a tom cat, and the Doctor was awarded later when he learned to open doors.
Does Doctor Thomas Edison have any nicknames?
He goes by Edison normally. But he allows Eddy, Eddy McEdders, and Eddersons.
What is Edison's favorite food?
Cheese was his favorite, followed by milkshakes, chicken, turkey, and catnip.
He had a sensitive stomach, so the dairy products would make him throw up if he had too many.
What was Edison's favorite activity?
He mostly enjoyed going outside. He would have a favorite sage plant he would sit next to and watch the birds and squirrels.
He also enjoyed sitting in laps. His favorite time of day was family time, when everyone gathered in the living room to play games or watch TV. TV time gave him ample lap time, and game time gave him plenty to mess with.
Did you really let Edison do those things?
Edison was king of the house; he did what he wanted. We tried to give him the best life we could. Edison taught us a lot along the way, and we think we were able to give him the best life we could.
One good source that helped us was Jackson Galaxy and his show My Cat From Hell on Discovery Channel. He has a YouTube channel with some solid advice.
Who wrote the blog?
Edison did, using a keyboard, though he was not a very good typist. The Translate to English button on each entry shows what he meant. His writing is never rewritten, only translated.
Is this AI slop?
No. The site and backend were generated by AI. But the content, including the photos and videos, the stories, and just about every written word, was created by Edison's human family.
